MINOT — It is a stunning addition to a previously overlooked location in the city. The marvelous décor is captivating. It is both old and new, a remarkable and inviting combination.
Welcome to Whiskey Nine — food, drinks, and golf on the big screen. Two large golf simulators are perfect for veteran golfers and newcomers alike.
“We’re a bar and restaurant with the added bonus of having golf, the entertainment aspect,” said McKenna Gudmunson, Whiskey Nine. “The crew went to every type of golf simulator in the state and decided on this one. They think they are the most accurate for a scratch golfer.”
The simulator screens are curved, which adds a wonderful sense of realism for golfers who can choose from more than 70 courses to play. One simulator is located on the main floor level of Whiskey Nine, which is designed to resemble an old-time country club. A second simulator, and a practice putting green, is located on the lower level where whiskey barrel tables are a striking addition to the prohibition era look.
“The original building was two different establishments. We knocked out a wall to make one big space,” said Gudmunson. “We tried to keep as much original as we could. Most of the brick in the building is all original.”
Food is served on both levels of Whiskey Nine. The upper level is open to people of all ages while the lower level is for age 21 and over. The unique menu can be found on the Whiskey Nine website.
“We have a full menu, anything from nibbles to sandwiches to prime rib night,” said Gudmunson. “It’s a pretty expansive menu. We’re open every day from 11 a.m. to close.”
Located on West Central Avenue, the business is another addition to the revitalization of downtown Minot.

“It’s fun to see these old buildings come alive again and have so much life in them again,” remarked Gudmunson. “We had a family and friends' night, a sort of trial run, and we were packed. It was fun to see so much activity downtown. We are happy to be a part of that.”
The aboutGOLF simulators allow patrons to golf nine or 18 holes, even stage long-driving contests or other golf challenges. They also double as massive television screen if an occasion should warrant.
