North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has signed HB 1504, the legislative redistricting bill approved this week during a special legislative session. Redistricting was on the “must do” list for legislators. A new district alignment was necessary due to population growth revealed in the 2020 census.
“The historic process marked the first time since 1910 that North Dakota had grown by more than 100,000 residents in a decade and the first time since 1930 that our state had a new record high population, having experienced the fourth-highest growth rate in the nation this past decade,” remarked Burgum.
Boundaries of the new district alignment hold about 16,400 residents, up from 14,500 ten years earlier.
