MINOT – The long-awaited murder trial of Shawnee Krall, 30, Minot, will wait a while longer.
Judge Stacy Louser ordered that the trial be moved out of North-Central District Court due to publicity surrounding the case. The action came during the second day of jury selection on Wednesday.
Several potential jurors indicated they had some knowledge of the case, which included the suppression of evidence. Louser had earlier ruled that certain evidence was obtained by Minot Police without proper authority to do so. Louser’s ruling was upheld upon appeal to the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Krall was charged with Murder-Intentional or Knowing-Adult Victim, and Gross Sexual Imposition-Sexual Act-Force-Victim Death, in late December 2020. Both charges are AA felonies punishable by up to life imprisonment without parole. The Gross Sexual Imposition charge was dismissed on July 25, 2023.
Neither the date nor location for change of venue has yet been available as of this writing.
