MINOT – Todd Kayler was introduced at Thursday’s meeting of the Minot Public Schools board as the new assistant superintendent. Kayler is currently an administrator at Roosevelt elementary school.
“He is a great candidate and will do duties very well. He’s been just tremendous at Roosevelt,” said Jim Rostad, board member.
The board also received an update on construction at Minot North High School. Board members were told that all concrete pours on the new theater had been completed and that the sealing of wood flooring installed at the school’s gymnasiums was nearing completion. Contractors hope for favorable weather as they have begun improving the school’s parking lots.
MPS voted to renew their cooperative agreement with Minot Air Force Base to offer educational opportunities for MAFB students.
At a recent meeting of the MAFB School Board MPS requested $2 million to help alleviate greater than anticipated costs associated with the new Minot North High School, including furniture and equipment needs. The MAFB board rejected the request by a 3-1 vote.
In January 2023, the MAFB board resolved to help with building costs “to the extent feasible”.
