Trial Set in Original Bar Killing

Travis McDermott Charged with Manslaughter 

MINOT – One dead, one arrested at the Original Bar on North Broadway about 1:45 a.m. on May 14, 2023. 

The man accused of firing two gunshots that resulted in the death of Greyson Sletto, 32, Willow City, will go to trial in January 2024 before North-Central District Judge Todd Cresap. Travis McDermott, 40, Minot, is charged with Manslaughter and Reckless Endangerment. 

Manslaughter is a B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Reckless Endangerment is a C felony punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment. 

Minot Police say McDermott and Sletto had a confrontation inside the Original Bar that escalated when McDermott brandished a firearm. McDermott is alleged to have fired two shots into Sletto during the altercation. 

Police say McDermott, who was held at the scene by bystanders, admitted to the shooting.
