Priest Guilty of Sexual Assault

Entered Plea in Jamestown 

JAMESTOWN – Father Neil Pfiefer, 49, Jamestown, entered a guilty plea to a charge of Sexual Assault in Southeast District court here Thursday morning. The offense is a class A misdemeanor. 

A second charge, a class C felony of Sexual Exploitation by Therapist which carried the possibility of five years in prison, was dismissed.  

Judge Cherie Clark sentenced Pfiefer to 360 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with the stipulation that he serve 10 days, with credit for one day already served. Pfiefer was given the option to complete 50 hours of community service by September 15, 2023, in lieu of serving the additional nine days in jail. 

Other conditions imposed by the court included unsupervised probation through July 13, 2026, undergo a psychiatric evaluation by Sept. 11, 2023, and complete recommended treatment by January 9, 2024. 

Pfiefer made his initial court appearance on the charges on February 2 of this year.
