RIVERDALE – The latest Missouri River Basin projections by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shows a minimal decline from the May outlook. The Corps revised its June forecast to 25.8-million-acre feet of water. The May outlook was 26.9 maf.
Lake Sakakawea’s water level was 1,833.6 feet Tuesday, is on the rise, and expected to peak at 1,837.9 feet at the end of July, about half a foot lower than the May projection.
The expected water levels for Lake Sakakawea fit within normal operation of the reservoir, neither too high nor too low to create major concerns. Overall runoff this year is currently expected to be 102% of normal.
