MINOT -- The lights came on Monday night, brilliantly illuminating the Magic City Discovery Center that overlooks the city.
Situated atop north hill, the lighting of the exterior of the Discovery Center signified completion of major construction of the building that will soon be a destination for children, parents, and grandparents from throughout the region.
“It’ll change north hill. That’s for sure,” said Wendy Keller, executive director of the center.
Next comes the installation of more than 150 interactive exhibits designed to engage children in a myriad of challenging and educational activities. Once the exhibits are in place, expected to take until the early part of 2023, a grand opening will be held. It is then that visitors will be able to get a first-hand view of the interior of the Discovery Center.
“What this lighting ceremony did was let people know we’ll be starting on exhibit installation,” said Keller.
The Discovery Center building contains 28,000 square feet that will contain 12 major galleries. There is also an outdoor patio on the south side of the building and another on the roof, offering a spectacular view of the city.
