The North Dakota Highway Patrol says that two people died in a rear-end crash near Hankinson Saturday night.
According to the NDHP, a 45-year-old man was driving a motorcycle, with a 40-year-old woman as a passenger, and Roberto Eguiza, 41, was driving a pickup, both westbound on Highway 11 between Hankinson and Lidgerwood. The motorcycle slowed to turn onto Richland County Road 3. The pickup rear-ended the motorcycle and both vehicles came to rest just west of the intersection.
The operator and passenger of the motorcycle were thrown from the vehicle and died from their injuries on scene.
The driver of the pickup fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a few hours later by the NDHP and Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP. Names will be released following
notification of next of kin.
