Served in House since 2016

HAZELTON—Jeffery Magrum has announced his intention to move from the North Dakota House of Representatives to the Senate. He was first elected to the House in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.

The decision to leave the House and run for the Senate follows in the wake of a re-districting plan recently approved by a special session of the State Legislature. Magrum, a District 28 representative, found himself residing inside the new boundaries of District 8.

"Moving to the Senate reflects my firm belief in term limits.”

In announcing his intentions Magrum said, “I’ve served my time in the House. I am on the sponsoring committee for the term limit measure expected to be on next year’s ballot. Moving to the Senate reflects my firm belief in term limits.”

Magrum has been a proponent of a variety of issues, including giving every man, woman, and child in North Dakota at $1,293.17 check from COVID relief dollars, prohibiting mask mandates, and creating fraud-proof ballots.

The Hazelton man is the first to announce for the position of Senator for District 8. Former District 8 Senator Howard Anderson, Turtle Lake, found himself residing outside the new district boundaries and therefore ineligible to run for re-election in District 8. The new boundaries of District 8 include all of Emmons County and parts of Burleigh County, including the communities of Wilton and Lincoln.

“I have been involved in the success and defense of many pro-life, pro-gun and property rights issues in North Dakota. I want to continue this work in the Senate.” Magrum

“I have been involved in the success and defense of many pro-life, pro-gun and property rights issues in North Dakota. I want to continue this work in the Senate,” said Magrum.

Magrum would be on the November ballot in 2022. He is a rancher, licensed Master Plumber, and small business owner.
