The Dakotan:

This is Outdoor Issues with Neil Roberts and North Dakota Game and Fish Outreach biologist Greg Gullickson.

Neil Roberts:

There are plenty of job opportunities across the region, one of which becoming a game warden. Tell us more about it, Greg.

Greg Gullickson:

Yeah, it's right to the North Dakota game. Fish Department is scheduling an exam and the test will be given at 10 a.m. on May 27th in the game and Fish Department's Bismarck office. So if you're interested in becoming a game warden, apply online on the game Fish Farm and website. There's a link right there that'll take you right to the application process. And if you want to know what a game warden does, there's a lot of things that game wardens do enforcing game fish laws, other related regulations, and also moving around the state, helping other game wardens. Our game wardens, they work alone a lot under a lot of different conditions, some adverse conditions. It's all hours of daylight, hours of the night and weekends. There's also other duties assigned, but not limited to working with PR education programs, hunter and boat safety, and assisting other divisions in the department as well. So hats off to all our game wardens and all they do.

Neil Roberts:

Good stuff, Greg. And hey, we'll talk more employment opportunities when we come back.

Neil Roberts:

Talking jobs with the State Game and Fish today on Outdoor Issues. And Greg, what else do you have?

Greg Gullickson:

You know, one other thing. If you're interested in becoming involved with the North Dakota Game Fish Department, the way that I got started was being a seasonal working during the summers. You know, there's a lot of summer work that needs to be done, whether you're on a fisheries netting crew working for the Wildlife Division, helping out the fisheries crew. The Game Fish Department is certainly a great place to work for.

Neil Roberts:

Good stuff, Greg, as always, thanks for that. And that'll bring this report to a close. If you missed one, check us on the website, outdoorissues.com. Until next time, I'm Neil Roberts.
