The Dakotan: This is Outdoor Issues with Neil Roberts and North Dakota Game and fish outreach biologist Greg Gullickson. Neil Roberts: Talking the state game and Fish Department at the North Dakota State Fair. And Greg, what an event each year. I know your department is always a big part of the fair and loyal volunteers really helped make it all happen, right? Greg Gullickson: Absolutely. When you look at our staffing roster for the state fair, it's probably 30 to 40% North Dakota Game and Fish staff. So we rely really heavily on those volunteers and if you ever helped at the state fair, hats off a lot of different things that you can do at the state fair if you want to volunteer would be archery the fishing area, the trapping area, the hunting area. So a lot of different things, a lot of hands on deck, a lot of the on the job training. So if you're interested in becoming a volunteer for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and specifically at the State Fair. Log on to our website. We have a whole section of our website that specifically talks about volunteers and how to do it. Neil Roberts: All right. Good stuff, Greg. Well, more on volunteers when we come back. The Dakotan: You're listening to Outdoor Issues with Neil Roberts on the Dakotan Network. Neil Roberts: Talking Volunteers for State Game and Fish at the State Fair today. But Greg, you know, volunteers help with a lot of things outside of this venue for your department as well. Right. Greg Gullickson: There's a lot of other things for the game. The Fish Department really relies on volunteers. And probably one of the best examples would be education. We have just shy of a thousand volunteers that volunteer to teach those on our education courses. And if you're one of those volunteers, a big pat on the back. We also do fishing education. We do for better education. A lot of different things that you can help volunteer and give back to the North Dakota outdoors and make sure that our next generation is educated. So if you want to go volunteer for the game and Fish, check us on our website gf.nd.gov. Neil Roberts: Good stuff, Greg. Hey, that'll bring this report to a close. Until next time.
