MINOT – Not every Halloween is a nice day for trick or treating, but Friday seemed the perfect weather for a downtown stroll.
Downtown Minot hosted a Treat Trail for families with young kids to walk around and pick up candy and other treats at various businesses.
Casey Klein, chairperson for the Downtown Business Professional Association committee and owner of Cookies for You, said the event is a good way to get kids out and about.
“It’s also a good way to get parents into some downtown businesses,” said Klein.
Klein said the DBPA sent an email to all its members and got over 35 businesses to participate and hand out candy to the kids.
“That’s an increase from the last few years,” said Klein. “We have a couple maps so you can kind of make your way around downtown.”
With the nice weather, Klein figured around 300-400 kids will have come to the event.
“Some years when the weather’s not as good there’s less participation,” said Klein.
The DBPA puts on several events throughout the year. More information on the DBPA and further events can be found on its Facebook page.
