Thursday April 3's ND Talk featured a pair of guests and a slew of topics this week. We had Dr. Jake Schmitz of Fargo and Mike Sian from Minot break down some items relevant to their expertise spanning over an hour of in depth conversation.
Conversation with Dr. Jake largely focused on state wide legislative issues. He gave an in depth description of the current debate over HB 1450 and the questionable procedures that have gone on in committee hearings. The bill relates to parent and guardian access to the medical examination room of a minor, and has gained a lot of steam online with arguments over possibilities of child predators taking advantage of the minor.
Dr. Jake's conversation then turned towards HB 1318, a pesticide labeling bill that affords extra protections to the manufacturing companies. There has been a number of back and forth issues and secondary hearings that have occured in the senate after the bill passed the House unanimously. Conversation turned following that vote with some representatives speaking out with some regret over their vote.
This led to the back half of the podcast where we discussed a number of national items with Mike Sian, a former special forces operative and foreign policy expert broke down some recent national headlines. He touched on everything from term limits, to the Signal Chat situation, to Tariffs, and the US's global role in the future. In an incredibly detailed conversation, he touches on the necessity of America's role on the global stage, and the potential of if America and Russia could ever enter into an Alliance.
