The Dunseith Debacle has taken the state of North Dakota by storm. Kicked off by articles written nearly a year ago, and brought back to our attention by a recent Gateway Pundit article which makes claims that many are involved in the scandal including Senator Kevin Cramer.
In a weekly interview on Oct 30 with Todd Mitchell, host of Mitchell in the Morning on KFYR, Senator Cramer addressed the allegations brought up by the Gateway Pundit.
"The Gateway Pundit is pretty, overwhelmingly, discredited. They have been sued several times successfully which is hard to do," Cramer said. "It is very hard to succeed in a lawsuit against a media outlet because they have a lot of leeway on what is news and what is factual."
The Dakotan is not aware of every lawsuit against the Gateway Pundit, but recently a settlement was made by the Gateway Pundit with Georgia Election Workers concerning claims of rigging the 2020 election.
Cramer also mentioned that the Gateway Pundit was recently kicked out of bankruptcy court.
"They are barely hanging on, in fact, I think they were trying to even declare bankruptcy and a judge wouldn't let them," Cramer said. "So, its far-fetched stuff to say the least and when you read it, you know its far-fetched."
The Gateway Pundit did recently enter bankruptcy court in what was an apparent attempt to be sheltering the organizatiom from further litigation.
When asked about a recent news article that was published by the Gateway Pundit, Senator Cramer established a basis that his knowledge of the Dunseith Debacle comes from news articles that were written by Michael Standaert nearly a year ago.
"I'm somewhat familiar with the case that they are referencing because it was a new story about a year ago, or 10 months ago, it was awhile ago," Cramer continued. "North Dakota Department of Commerce was working with a manufacturer up in Dunseith, or, yeah, I think it's Dunseith."
Cramer struggled to remember where the event occurred. However, he recollected recent events in the history of the Gateway Pundit. He also recalled recordings referencing a reporter having discussion with him [Cramer] about the events that have happened in Dunseith with Charles Hoefer and Hoefer RV. In those recordings obtained by the Gateway Pundit, the reporter states they have talked with Cramer who stated that this is a state issue and that he [Cramer] would reach out to contacts that would be more familiar with the events and would try to persuade someone at Commerce to do the right thing.
On his interview with Todd Mitchell, Cramer stated that there is no "federal nexus" for the events in Dunseith which makes it of no relevance to him as a member of Congress.
"I am a United States Senator, I've been out of state, maybe a state senator [or a] state legislature can call the Commerce Department and advocate on his [Charles Hoefer] behalf but I really can't. I don't have any influence there," Cramer stated.
