MINOT – The 16th annual Youth Outdoor Festival was held Thursday evening at the State Fairgrounds Conservation and Skill Park.
The North Dakota Game and Fish event featured wildlife clubs throughout the area interacting with attendees, providing information, and presenting demonstrations.
“We’re here for the pheasants and the youth,” said Petter Thunshelle, a volunteer with Pheasants for the Future who was helping at the air rifle range. “We’re getting youngsters the experience of the outdoors, which is good. It’s just fun to see the smiles.”
Youth interested in the outdoors and outdoor activities had a chance to take part in outdoor-related activities, many of whom did so for the first time. Several of the clubs had items for giveaways as well.
A club attending the festival for the first time was the Souris Valley Chapter of Pheasants Forever.
“We’re getting the word out that we are another organization here in town,” said Tyler Webster. “It’s nice to get out and get a few more people in our club.”
The hours for the event were 5:30-7:30 p.m. and included a drawing for prizes donated by various merchants and organizations.
