MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team got head coach Matt Murken his first win over former assistant Jack Nelson and now can celebrate Christmas with a smile.

The Beavers got a 30-point showing from the bench on the way to an 82-76 victory against the Mary Marauders at home Saturday on Saturday as Murken moved to 1-3 in head-to-head matchup with Nelson.

The Beavers (6-4 overall, 3-3 NSIC) had three players score in double figures, led by Khari Broadway who had 21 points. Cam'ron Dunfee tacked on 15 points and Jalen Cook helped out with 11 points off of the bench.

Led by Connor Hollenbeck's three offensive rebounds, Minot State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in 10 second-chance points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 24-18, Minot State went on a 7-0 run with 6:46 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Dunfee, to take a 25-24 lead. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 35-34.

Mary kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 52-50 advantage before Minot State went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Cook's three, to seize a 57-52 lead with 8:50 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 82-76 win. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 19 of its 48 total points.
