MINOT – The Beavers got within 90 feet of tying the game before their comeback came up short Monday in NSIC baseball.
Down a run, a leadoff, pinch-hit triple by Cameron Carr in the bottom of the ninth gave Minot State hope, but the Beavers couldn’t push home the tying run and fell 3-2 to visiting Minnesota Duluth at Corbett Field in the teams’ series final.
Minot State looks to bounce back quickly as they head to Minnesota Crookston for a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Junior Cameron Bagshaw and junior Gage Yost each totaled five strikeouts with Bagshaw throwing two shutout innings without giving up a hit and walking one for Minot State. Yost's (3-2) five strikeouts came in addition to his six innings of three-run ball where he allowed four hits while walking six.
At the plate, the Beavers were paced by junior Mark Ossanna, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and an RBI.
