MINOT – Not everyone’s hobby is reading, but for some people, books are more than a hobby.
Ward County Public Library Administrator Kerrianne Boetcher grew up in Lansford, but moved to Minot in 2012, where she has been working as the director of the library ever since.
Boetcher went to school at the University of North Dakota and got her degree in elementary and middle level education. She got her master’s degree in library and information science at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul.
“I always liked reading, and it was something where I could help kids and help the public, but not necessarily be in a school,” said Boetcher.
Boetcher said her job consists of a little bit of everything.
“I do story time, I help out with the bookmobile, we do reference questions, so if people need help on the computer or need help finding things,” Boetcher explained. “I work on the budget, I work with commissioners, I work with the library board, order books.”
Boetcher said at the last count the library had around 65,000 books between Kenmare, Minot and the bookmobile.
“Having lived in Saint Paul and moving back, Minot is definitely different,” said Boetcher. “I prefer smaller cities.”
