Minot State Soccer vs. Black Hills State
Minot State soccer playing is their opening game of the 2022 campaign. The Yellowjackets are playing game 3. They are 0-2 but have had a couple games to work out the kinks. They played a year ago and the Yellowjackets gave the Beavers a scare, but Melanie Van Walstijn hit a laser from 35 yards out to break open the scoring.
Van Walstijn and Beavers all-time leading scorer Sofia Lewis are now gone. The Beavers hope their new young talent can grow up quickly. Can Chloe Allen hit double figure goals? I think 10 is very attainable and she will break the seal on the new season today vs BHSU. The Beavers are in great shape in the net with Maddie Kindred. She has great range in the net plus she has incredible leadership skills.
Black Hills State has two very strong defenders in Ainsley Wilson and Samantha Turpin. Turpin is a senior and motivated to get the Yellowjackets their first ever win against the Beavers. Makayla Dannelly, a highly recruited goalkeeper from Colorado, is very strong.
The Yellowjackets will be very strong defensively, but the much deeper Beavers will wear them down.

Minot State Beavers Football vs. Winona State Warriors
The Minot State Beavers are older, and the roster is turned over completely to Coach Mike Aldrich’s players. Understand this, Minot State is bigger, faster and stronger than EVER before. This football team would beat any other Minot State football team in the Division 2 era. They are fully Division 2 for first time in school history. Minot State will rely heavily on Ali Mohamed this upcoming season.
The Warriors are picked higher and are large favorites heading into this matchup. They have maybe the best offensive lineman in the league along with the best defensive player in the league. Carter Duxbury was AP All -American last season. He was also named to the pre-season All-America team. He had 11 sacks last season. The Warriors are a very tough first contest for the beavers.
By the time the first quarter is over, everyone in attendance will know that the Beavers are for REAL a Division 2 football team. They will no longer be an easy out. Aldrich has built a high character, no-quit football team. In the end I think the difference in the lines will be too much for the Beavers.

Minot High (1-0) vs. Bismarck Legacy (0-1)
Minot High will now take their talents on the road. They play Bismarck Legacy at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Minot ran all over Duane Carlson last Friday night versus Bismarck St. Mary’s. I do think the Magicians will repeat that game plan. The question will be, can they minimize penalties and can “Captain Speraw” make winning plays two weeks in a row.
Minot was lucky that St. Mary’s let them off the hook with a few drops that would have kept the game very close. In the end Minot is better than Legacy.
Legacy was crushed by maybe the Eastern conference favorite West Fargo Sheyenne. Legacy will keep this closer than the Saints were able to do.

Surrey vs. Divide County
Surrey has a new coach and a new offense. Last year they ran the ball most every play. But with senior quarterback Ryan Scheig, senior offensive lineman William Mayo, and a senior wide receiver they have a new air attack. The Mustangs will be able to spread the field even more than the normal wide open 9-man football. Surrey has a toughness about them. They are an experienced team.
Divide County (2-0) will be a little too much for the Mustangs on Friday night. They are motivated and looking for the top seed in the post season. They have two blowout wins and are very well coached.

Minot vs. Dickinson
Minot is coming off a huge week where they secured 7 points and climbed into third place. They are playing the Midgets who just tied Century 3-3. Century happens to be the only team to beat the Magicians this year. Minot is still struggling to score but they are not struggling to create chances.
Brayden Oswalt and Dylan Helde are the spine of the Magicians, they help Minot lean on their opponents. Dickinson will be trying to get a tie out of the match, but in the end Minot will win by sheer number of chances in front of the Dickinson goal. Minot, simply put, has too many players that put work into the summer versus the Midgets.
