MINOT – A big event put on by local credit unions has been pushed back.
Credit Union’s United Chapter had planned a pool party for Thursday, August 11 free for the public at Roosevelt Park Pool that has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 16, due to the weather.
Credit Union’s United Chapter is a collaboration of the six credit unions in Minot: North Star Credit Union, Town & Country Credit Union, Affinity First Federal Credit Union, Aspire Credit Union, Great River Federal Credit Union, and Minot Area Schools Credit Union.
“We represent all of the credit unions,” said Susan Bergman, board member. “We all work together, we do some education meetings for ourselves, and then we do the pool party every year. We participate in the co-op days at the fair, because we’re cooperative. We participate in the National Night Out.”
Bergman said the credit union will pay for each individual that comes to the pool during the time slot that is reserved.
Bergman also said there will be volunteers from each credit union, door prizes, and the appearance of the credit unions’ mascot, PeeWee, for kids 12 and under.
“He’s a penguin that likes to talk about financial literacy,” said Bergman. “As they’re leaving the pool they can just check and see if they won something on their way out. We give away some cash prizes.”
Bergman said the credit unions have put on the free pool party for over 20 years.
“Usually its our members that show up, but anyone is welcome,” Bergman clarified.
