1 Thomas Gutierrez delivers a pitch during Saturday Win TH/TD
MINOT — Another home game, another home win for the Sabre Dogs as they powered their way with 10 total runs off the Home Run alone breezing past Pierre 21-3 on Saturday. The offense started out with a lone run in the opening inning off a single by Cody Muncy.
The first offensive explosion happened in the 2nd inning where a single by Lewis Pelayo plated David Demeter. Chris Monroe supplied the first homerun of the game cranking a 3-run shot to left giving the Dogs a 5-run cushion.
The Dogs weren’t satisfied there as another run came across in the 3rd before a 7-run 4th put the Sabre Dogs up by 13. Another run came across in the 5th when David Demeter plated Seth Delgado before second 7-run outburst in the 6th to cap the offensive night.
“The Boys are just starting to get heated up, lots of great energy in the clubhouse every day. We know what we can do, we’re all supporting each other it’s just a matter of when not if we start to heat up more.” Seth Delgato said after the win.
Starting pitching has been a key factor as well as another strong outing by Thomas Gutierrez backed the offense. Gutierrez tossed 3 no-hit innings striking out 8 of the first 9 Pierre batters before a 2 out single in the 4th broke up the no-hit bid. Gutierrez would toss 6 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out 11 and walking 1.
The Sabre Dogs now 7-1 overall and 6-0 at home look for the series sweep Sunday with a 5:35p.m. first pitch from Corbett Field.
