GWINNER — District 28 Republicans have announced their joint campaign; Sebastian Ertelt for State Senate and Josh Loegering and Darcy Meier for State House.

Josh Loegering and his wife Christine homeschool their six children and farm on Christine’s family homestead. Loegering is active in his community and serves as the LaMoure County Highway Superintendent and the Gladstone Township Road Supervisor. Graduating from NDSU with a degree in Civil Engineering, Loegering is a licensed professional engineer formerly working with KLJ where he served both Dickey County and McIntosh County. He also acts as an executive board member of the ND Association of County Engineers. Loegering faithfully serves on the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Parish Council.

Loegering said, “I am pushing for a limited government, one that does not continue excessive, record spending or use fear to shut small businesses down. We need a government that stays within its means, seeks to secure our communities, borders and elections, stands firm for the rule of law, and achieves peace through strength.”

Darcy Meier farms, ranches, and raises three kids and five grandchildren with her husband Jerry. Meier received her RN and Bachelor of Science degree from Dickinson State University and afterwards joined as an officer in the U.S. Air Force where she served active duty as an Aerovac Nurse. Meier spent time volunteering as an EMT at her local ambulance and instructing CPR. She also received her Masters degree in Ag Education from NDSU and was a former member and current volunteer at 4-H. She is an active gun owner and member of the NRA. Meier is very involved in her community as an active member in her local church, a member of American Legion, and a volunteer RN at youth camps and the International Music Camp.

Meier said, “I will unequivocally uphold the same oath I swore to serve in our military. I will defend the right to bear arms, and stand up to radical Marxist ideas in the classroom. In these crazy times when fundamental values seem to be under assault, I will uphold family integrity and the American moral tradition. This means that families – not the government – have final say in how their children are educated.”

Sebastian Ertelt, current North Dakota District 26 State Representative, has announced his running mates for his State Senate run in the newly-redistricted District 28. Ertelt was elected to serve the people of District 26 in 2016, and reelected in 2020 to another four-year term. He has served all of his three regular sessions on the House Finance & Taxation and Political Subdivisions Committees. He formerly served on the Interim Taxation and Government Finance Committees and currently serves on the Interim Judiciary and Information & Technology Committees.

“After redistricting, constituents contacted me, specifically asking me to run for the State Senate against Senator Robert Erbele,” said Ertelt. “Many of these local Republican leaders supported a censure of Senator Erbele and Representative Mike Brandenburg just last year due to their voting records. Just like with my first race, I feel called to run. I’ve been deeply concerned as I’ve watched our nation, and some in our state, whether intentionally or by a lack of foresight, sprinting toward communism and tyrannical rule.”

District 28 is the newly-formed legislative district from the redistricting process, which took place after completion of the 2020 US Census. The district encompasses Logan, LaMoure, McIntosh, Dickey, and Sargent counties.
