MINOT — The Broadway Corridor study conducted in 2021 has won an Engineering Excellence award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Dakota.
The Broadway study was recognized in the Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services category by the ACEC, a non-profit, self-governing organization with the purpose of protecting the public interest and advancing the professional position of engineers.
“We’re pleased to share this recognition with all of our partners in this project,” City Engineer Lance Meyer said. “In the future, we’re looking forward to implementing changes identified by the study as we work to improve the safety, usability, and accessibility for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians throughout the Broadway corridor.”
The City of Minot conducted the Broadway study in collaboration with Bolton & Menk, KLJ, and Apex Engineering. The study included Broadway from 46th Avenue North to the southern city limits. The study identified transportation issues and opportunities, developed and analyzed potential solutions, and prioritized projects that will improve the safety and mobility for all users of the corridor.
The Engineering Excellence projects were scored on several aspects, including uniqueness and/or innovative application of new or existing techniques, future value to the engineering profession and perception by the public, social, economic, and sustainable development considerations, complexity, and successful fulfillment of client/owner’s needs, including schedule and budget.
