MINOT — Miranda Schuler has announced she is running for Mayor of Minot.
Over the past eight years, Schuler has served the people of Minot, first as a City Council Alderman, then as a member of the Minot Public School board.
"In these roles, my leadership style has grown as I have taken on some of the toughest challenges our community has faced. I take great pride in my listening, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills," Schuler said.
"Minot does many things well though there is always room for improvement." Schuler continued, "As I canvassed the community, I clearly heard the residents' concerns and believe we can do better. As mayor, I will work with our council and city staff to address all issues we face with a focus on pride in our community. Things like street maintenance and improvements, code enforcement, technology, public safety and a diverse economy, while not political or exciting in nature, impact each of us daily and represent the pride we have in our community."
"I am sincerely thankful for our current leadership’s commitment, and I believe a full panel of candidates on a ballot can only benefit the voters of Minot. Now is the time for new leadership. I am ready to lead Minot into the future with thoughtful ideas, sound decisions and impactful results," Schuler added.
Mayor Shaun Sipma announced in December he was running for a second and final term, and City Council Alderman Tom Ross announced his bid for the position in February.
