MINOT — The Minot Fire Department says crews responded to two separate house fires in southeast Minot early Monday morning.

They say firefighters responded at 12:21 a.m. to a report of a fire in the upstairs of a home at 601 7th Street SE and found heavy fire coming from the structure’s upstairs when they arrived on scene.

Fire crews extinguished the fire in approximately 20 minutes, but the structure suffered major damage.

A cat died in the incident, but no other injuries were reported.

Another a call came in at 1:22 a.m. about heavy fire coming from an attached garage at 612 Mount Curve Avenue in southeast Minot.

Crews encountered a fully involved garage fire, with flames working into the second floor of the home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the home and did not find anyone during search and rescue operations. They then used multiple hose lines to extinguish the garage fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

Both fires remain under investigation.
