MINOT—Main Street Books in downtown Minot hosted its Grinch Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“I think it’s important to have free kids' events, especially when they’re downtown. We’re very local oriented, very community driven. Events like this, there’s no obligation to buy anything. When we do events like this, we want the kids and parents to have fun, and have a free outlet to do that,” said Lindsey Bertsch, event coordinator.

Kristi Fei read How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss to about 60 to 75 children.

There were cookies that were decorated like the face of the Grinch from Cookies for You, as well several crafts like Grinch bracelets for the children to make.

Logan Goodrich, who recently moved to Minot from Texas, was dressed up as the Grinch for kids to meet and take photos with. She also handed out presents to the kids. However, Goodrich said she had to keep the Grinch mask off for most of the event so as to not scare them. “I ask them, ‘Do you want to see me in the mask?’ and once they say ‘Yes’, I’ll put it on.”

Melanie Jimerson brought her two children to the store and said, “I love their events. They’re so much fun to be a part of.”

“[My children] really enjoyed the crafts and the cookies, and we love looking at the books they have here,” said Michealla Long, who brought her four children. “It’s really fun to come downtown and see all the Christmas books and everybody having fun.”

“I think [kids] see the world in a way that it should be,” said Goodrich.
