BISMARCK – Less is more. Although the Badlands Bass Bandits will be cutting their tournament series from nine to six for 2022, it is hoped to increase participation in the circuit and also allow for a major event.
For the first time ever, the state will host an open bass fishing tournament that is expected to draw top bass fishermen from a multi-state area. Lake Audubon was selected as the host lake for a maximum field of 40 boats. The date for the event has not yet been determined.
The Bass Bandits regular tournament schedule for 2022 will be:
May 14-15 – Lake Tschida, annual club camping weekend.
June 11 – Lake Ashtabula.
June 25 – Lake Audubon.
July 23 – Nelson Lake.
August 27 – Lake Isabel
Sept. 10-11 – Lake Sakakawea, Dakota Waters, Classic Championship.
In addition, the Bass Bandits will conduct their traditional Ice Bowl on March 26 at Nelson Lake.
The club hosted an Ice Series for the first time last winter and will do so again this winter. All of the events will be held at Nelson Lake, a power plant lake that has open water all year round.
Ice Series dates are December 12, January 15, February 5, March 5, and March 19. The final event will be a fish off with participating teams seeded into brackets for head-to-head competition.
The Bass Bandits held their annual winter meeting in Bismarck this past Saturday.
