The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for western and central North Dakota Tuesday and much of the state Wednesday. Northwest winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts to 50-60 mph are possible.
The NWS warns that damaging wind could blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Some snow is possible with the greatest chances along the Canadian border.
The latest forecast calls for wind gusts of 59 mph in the Bowman and Elgin areas, 55 mph at Williston, and 52 mph at New Town. The high winds are building behind a cold front that could bring wind chills into the single digits.
The NWS will issue further updates as the system continues to approach North Dakota.
