The Dakotan: This is Outdoor Issues with Neil Roberts and North Dakota Game and Fish Outreach biologist Greg Gullickson. Neil Roberts: The deer gun application deadline may have passed by some well-intended hunters. And Greg, if they missed that June eight deadline, what are some options? Greg Gullickson: Yeah, the deadline of Wednesday, June 8th, at midnight. And again, you were only able to apply on the game on Fish Department website. And this is for applicants for the regular deer gun season for gratis youth and also the muzzle order. And one of the other things to go with it is the gratis application. So that a number of questions on that. So if those gratis applications are received on or before that June deadline, the regular deer gun application will qualify for any legal deer season and. Right. And state law those gratis applications that are after the deadline they'll still be processed but it's based on the licenses remaining after the lottery. And generally those are going to be and only antler less licenses that will remain but a few different things to cover as well that general game and habitat license is required when applying for a deer license and if the applicant is not already purchased that for the season like I bought a combination license right at the beginning of April when the new licenses were required, you would have added that to your cart at checkout. But if you're just planning on deer hunting, we will refund not only your deer application but also that general game and habitat license. Neil Roberts: Good stuff, Greg. Hey, we'll talk more on deer hunting when we come back. The Dakotan: You're listening to Outdoor Issues with Neil Roberts on the Dakotan Network. Neil Roberts: Talking deer hunting today and outdoor issues. And Greg, how's the fall hunting shaping up, you think? Greg Gullickson: Pretty good. And for those that missed the regular application archery store option, that'll be open. There will probably be some leftover dog tags, but our mule deer populations are up and obviously our white tails are down a little bit. Neil Roberts: All right. Good stuff, Greg.
