Minot - On The Dakotan’s ND Talk Thursday morning, host Kyler Collom asked former Minot Mayor Shaun Sipma whether he would run in the upcoming special election for mayor.
Sipma thanked the many people who had reached out through various channels encouraging him to consider a run but confirmed he will not be entering the race. He said that during his time in office, with the help of those around him, he was able to accomplish everything they had set out to do.
He went on to describe himself as “a tad bit contentious,” adding that Minot doesn’t need that kind of leadership right now.
“We need someone who is calming. We need someone that is going to steer things with calm waters,” Sipma said. “I’m just not that person right now.”
