FARGO, ND - On Tuesday, Jared Hendrix won a seat in the North Dakota State House in Fargo’s District 10. Winning support amongst a wide swath of voters in one of the most logistically challenging districts in the state. District 10 is a “swing” district, composed of approximately 80% apartment buildings.
“I’m extremely grateful, foremost to God, and of course to the voters for placing their trust in me,” said Hendrix. “We ran a positive, issue-focused campaign that brought people together in an era in which political division might seem insurmountable.”
Hendrix, a Republican, outperformed the Republican candidate for president in his district. He received 3,053 votes (pending adjustments after the canvassing board meets), and won one of the two House seats. “I was always straightforward with voters about what I believe. I ran on issues that I’ve been passionate about for many years.”
“We treated voters with respect, spoke to them sincerely, and listened sincerely as well. Despite some ugly attacks from the political establishment of both parties, voters saw right through to what really matters. People are struggling to pay their rent and their groceries. They want real, practical solutions from their leaders.”
“My pledge to my constituents is simple – if there’s an issue that I cannot support, because either it’s inconsistent with my principles or not within my power as a legislator, I will not make false promises. However, if there is something that I can do, no one will fight harder.”
“To all those who voted for me – thank you. To all those who did not vote for me, I will do my best to represent you and earn your support. We need to work together to reduce the cost of living, reform tax policy, cut wasteful special interest spending, make childcare more affordable, put our teachers and students first, and tackle Fargo’s violent crime rate.”
