Struck Down on Highway 

**UPDATE: On Friday, Dec. 3, the North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the woman killed as Elaine Fettig, 73, Killdeer. Fettig was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. 

KILLDEER — A vehicle enroute to Berthold struck and killed woman at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. The accident occurred four miles north of here on Highway 22. 

According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report, a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Warren Jensen, 58, Berthold, struck a 73-year-old Killdeer woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family. 

Jensen was traveling northbound from Killdeer to Berthold. A motorist had stopped on the northbound shoulder of the road to change a flat tire. A second vehicle stopped on the southbound shoulder to assist. An occupant from the second vehicle was attempting to cross the highway when struck by Jensen’s pickup. 

The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
