On Nov. 16, Minot Central Dispatch received a report of a burglary and assault at a
residence in northwest Minot early in the morning.
The suspect reportedly broke into the residence and strangled the victim.
Eventually, the victim escaped the home and contacted police.
Officers from the Minot Police Department arrived on the scene and quickly
determined that the suspect had fled. The suspect, Scott Andrew Flood, 34, of
Minot, was located and arrested for Burglary (B Felony), Domestic Violence –
Serious Bodily Injury (C Felony), and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call (C
Felony).
Flood was initially charged with the above listed charges. After consultation with the
Ward County State’s Attorney, the decision was made to amend the charges and
add Attempted Murder (A Felony).
The District Court accepted the amended charge. Flood is now charged with
Attempted Murder (A Felony), Burglary (B Felony), Domestic Violence – Serious
Bodily Injury (C – Felony) and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call (CFelony).
Flood is being held at the Ward County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
