1.5 miles north of Makoti, ND.
When: September 23, 2023, at approximately 0549 PM CST

Vehicle No. 1: 2010 Lincoln Navigator
Driver No. 1: Elmer Flying Horse, 45 year old male, Newtown, ND – seriously injured.
Restraints: seatbelt in use
Passenger No. 1: Norma Flying Horse, 41 year old female, Newtown ND – seriously injured.
Restraints: unknown
Passenger No. 2: Ethelyn Moccasin, 65 year old female – minor injuries
Restraints: seatbelt in use
Passenger No. 3: Ronnetta Moccasin, 36 year old female – seriously injured.

NARRATIVE:
The Toyota was traveling west on Hwy 23 near mile maker 81. The Lincoln was traveling south
on 338th St NW (County Road 9). The Lincoln failed to stop at the intersection marked with a
stop sign. The Toyota struck the Lincoln. The Lincoln rolled and came to rest on its top. One
occupant was ejected from the vehicle. All occupants of the Lincoln were transported to Trinity
Health in Minot by local ambulances. The occupants of the Toyota were transported by a
personal vehicle to Trinity Health.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
