WILLISTON -- The Williston Police Department released the following report Monday:
"On May 5, 2023, at approximately 11:01 am, the Williston Police Department responded to the 4800 Block of 11th Ave W for a report of a child falling from a balcony. After further investigation, it was discovered that the child had fallen through a screen on an open window. The child fell from a fourth-floor apartment window, approximately 40 feet.
The Williston Police Department has been notified that the child, a two-year-old male juvenile, has tragically succumbed to his injuries. Currently, the investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
The Williston Police Department would like to urge our community, as the weather starts getting warmer, please use caution with children playing near open windows. A screen is not a safety barrier to prevent anyone from falling through an open window."
