MINOT, N.D. – Minot State’s star goalie Maddie Kindred has been named an Academic All-American.
Kindred, who set school records for single-season and career shutouts this season and was named to the All-NSIC First Team, was named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA, on Tuesday.
Kindred set a new single-season school record with 14 shutouts this season, and a new career record as the senior has 26 shutouts in three seasons in net for the Beavers. Her 14 shutouts this fall were No. 2 nationally, as well.
Along with her record-setting shutout performance, the senior from Soldotna, Alaska, also had a phenomenal 0.56 goals against average this season, a 0.897 save percentage, and a shutout streak of more than 1,100 minutes – equivalent to more than 12 games.
Also a star in the classroom, the senior Nursing major had to maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA to be eligible for the honor, be at least a junior academically, and be a starter or significant contributor for her team this season.
