MINOT – Community leaders and the public gathered Monday morning for the groundbreaking ceremony of Minot North High School, after much work has been put into building it.
“Thank you to our voters, who passed the first question with nearly an 84% yes vote,” said Minot Public Schools Superintendent Mark Vollmer. “We have a community that supports kids. We have a community that supports each other. December 7, what an incredible date in Minot 2021 to pass this and see this great work happening.”
About 10% of Minot residents voted on the bond issue last year to approve construction of the new campus. The total projected cost of the bond is over $100 million, which includes renovations to Minot High School Magic City and Central campuses.
“We were all unanimously in favor of this as we went through this process,” said Jim Rostad, president of the Minot Public School Board. “The successful bond issue and the impressive margin was achieved with help from many members of the community who believed our students' education and opportunities would be greatly improved with a second high school in Minot.”
