One person was killed, and two others suffered serious injuries as the result of traffic mishaps in the region.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, an 88-year-old man from Zap was driving an OHV, a 2021 Can-Am Defender, on Mercer County Road 21, 10 miles north of Beulah, at 11:13 Saturday morning when the accident occurred.
The Can-Am was slowing near an intersection when a 2018 Dodge Pickup 3500 was attempting to pass. The Can-Am turned into a boat and trailer being towed by the Dodge.
The driver of the Can-Am was ejected and pronounced dead at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.
At 2:38 a.m. Saturday, on U.S. Highway 83 seven miles south of Wilton, a 2007 Dodge Caliber driving by Titus Covey, 18, Bismarck, entered the median and rolled. A passenger, 19-year-old Paul Massingill, Bismarck, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.
Both occupants were transported to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. Massingill’s injuries were reported as serious.
A woman suffered life-threatening injuries as the result of an accident within the Williston city limits about 9 p.m. Friday. Injured was Aprille Poitra, 26, WIlliston.
According to the Highway Patrol, Poitra was a passenger in a 2019 Ford F-350 when she opened the door and fell from the vehicle. Poitra was struck by the rear passenger tire. She was taken by ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Health-Williston and then airlifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot.
