MINOT – The Minot State Athletic Hall of Fame is set to grow with the addition of four new inductees.
Minot State Athletics and the Beaver Booster Club are pleased to announce the Hall of Fame Class of 2022 which includes two-sport star student-athlete Jen Dixon, softball and volleyball, former Beaver golfer and golfer coach Whitney (Stanley) Aberle, NAIA track and field national champion Travis Hanson, and the Beavers’ 1986 NAIA runner-up national champion gymnastics team.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Friday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. at Clarion Hotel, 2200 E. Burdick Expressway, as part of the Homecoming 2022 festivities. The Class of 2022 also will be honored at halftime of the Beavers’ homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 15, against Northern State at 2 p.m. at Herb Parker Stadium.
Dixon is a former softball and volleyball player who earned All-American honors on the diamond, and All-Conference honors on the hardwood.
Aberle is a former Dakota Athletic Conference champion golfer who went on to coach the Minot State women’s golf team for five seasons.
Hanson is an NAIA national champion in the indoor triple jump and four-time NAIA All-American in track and field.
And the 1986 gymnastics team of Stacey Aberle, Judy Kraljic, Renae Newman, Lori Swanson, Jody Thompson, Nancy Ward, Robin Wheeler, and Coach Gary Leslie finished second to Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the NAIA National Championships in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Wheeler was the individual national champion in balance beam that season.
