MINOT — Trinity Health is accepting registrations for Safe Sitter® classes this summer.
Safe Sitter is a nationally approved, medically accurate program for youth 11 years of age or older. It teaches young people the skills they need to handle real life emergencies and keep children safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
Kathleen White, Community Education Supervisor, says the one-day course provides instruction and hands-on training on a variety of topics, including choking and hands-only CPR, safety for the sitter, accident management, child development, and the business of babysitting.
“These are skills that can empower young people to become true assets to our community,” White said. “Students feel more confident caring for younger children, and parents can feel more at ease knowing their teens are prepared to handle emergencies.”
Registrations are being accepted for the following dates: June 1, 2, 21, 22, 23, 29 and 30; July 6, 7, 13, 14 and 21; and August 3 and 4.
Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Education Center at Trinity Health Riverside, 1900 8th Avenue SE. Course fee is $60. To register, call the Trinity Health Community Education Department at 857-5099.
