MINOT — Nodak Speedway made some changes to cap off its Memorial Day Doubleheader as the Northern SportMods and IMCA Modifieds went racing without their roofs and ran a single car qualifying session before their heat races.
There was plenty of action to be had to start the night as the Hobby Stock feature saw the caution flag 7 times the first one coming into turn 1 on the opening lap as three cars drove the corner to sending all three to the back of the field. The very next lap the #25 of Brett Green would spin into turn one also. Turn 1 would continue to cause problems as three more cars spun.
With 10 to go the #12 machine of Dexter Saxon would get spun around coming down the front straightaway with 10 to go. Caden Appelt came away victorious snapping a streak of finishes to start the season Tim Anderson and Scott Joern rounding out the top three.
The Northern SportMods also saw a few spins in their feature as well as a two-car spin with 17 to go bunched the field up. With 10 to go the #21 of Gabriel Deschamp would spin in turn 1 allowing Erik Laudenschlager to pull away from the field picking up feature win #2 on the season.
The IMCA Modifieds closed out the night, the race was looking to be a repeat of Sunday night but with just three laps a piece of debris in turn 3 brought out the nights only caution flag. The top three would be three wide out of turn 4 before Arron Turnbull took the lead onto the back straightaway and take the win with Travis Hagen and Steven Pfeifer rounding out the top three.
The other two feature winners were Cole Hanshew in the Sport Compacts and Eli Turnbull in the Junior Slingshots. Nodak returns Sunday night with Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, SportMods and Modifieds with green flag at 7 p.m.
