MINOT — Minot’s two downtown parking structures will return to normal pay-to-park operations on May 2 after being open for free following recent snow storms.

At its April 18 meeting, the Minot City Council voted to allow free usage of the parking structures until the end of April to help mitigate concerns when downtown parking spots were limited after storms dumped up to 48 inches of snow on Minot.

The city will resume normal pay-to-park operations of the parking structures beginning on the morning of Monday, May 2. Anyone who does not have a valid parking pass should remove their vehicle from the structures to avoid being trapped when the gate arms are lowered on Monday morning.

“It was important to help downtown businesses, their customers, and the residents who live downtown with access to parking during the immediate aftermath of the recent storms,” City Manager Harold Stewart said. “But as we return to normal paid parking operations, we want to make sure anyone without a valid pass has time to move their vehicle before the gate arms are lowered Monday morning.”
