The Minot Association of Builders Hosts 47th Annual Home & Garden Show
MINOT — Inside the North Dakota State Fair Center today, the 2022 Home and Garden Show is being hosted by the Minot Association of Builders, making it the 47th year of its existence.
Erika Kelly, the executive officer of the Minot Association of Builders, said that both the number of exhibits as well as attendance will vary from year to year, though there may be a slight decrease with the continual growth of internet marketing. “It’s really cool to see the exhibitors who do still come to the show, because I think there’s nothing like the person to person interaction. There’s a wide variety here and a little bit for everyone.”
The events this year include a Lego building competition, painting sessions, the Magic City Discovery Center Kidzone, and door prizes.
According to Kelly, there are around 80 exhibitors and more than 100 booths this year, and on a typical year attendance will reach around 2000-2500 people.
“It’s a great community event, a great way to get your business out,” said Paul Pitner, representing Brokers 12.
“It’s basically word of mouth, so when people come to the Home and Garden Show, our name gets out,” said Laurie Herslip, representing MUUS Lumber.
“It’s really an exposure thing. You just need to be here,” Art Lautt said, another representative for MUUS Lumber.
“We come just about every year. The kids have fun,” said Ashley Keith, an attendee who came with her two children and mother-in-law.
“It’s a beautiful day, lots to see, lots of people, good information,” Barb Drawz, another attendee, described.
The 2022 Home and Garden Show is open to the public on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5, and kids 12 & under can enter for free. Gooseneck Implement is encouraging attendees to bring a canned food item to “fill the gator” in exchange for $1 off admission. Military members and family may also save $1 on admission by showing a valid military ID. (only one discount allowed per person.)
More information on this, as well as how to book a booth at the next Home and Garden Show, can be found on the Minot Association of Builders website. Early bird registration begins in the fall.
