BISMARCK — Newly appointed Public Service Commissioner Sheri Haugen-Hoffart announced this week that she will seek the Republican nomination for Public Service Commission. Earlier this month, Gov. Doug Burgum appointed Haugen-Hoffart to fill the unexpired term of former Commissioner Brian Kroshus.

Haugen-Hoffart said, “I am grateful for Governor Burgum’s appointment and look forward to earning the trust of voters in the upcoming election,” said Haugen-Hoffart. “As Chair of the Board for Capital Electric, my commitment to customer service excellence was a top priority. I intend to carry that same commitment to the PSC and will fight to protect North Dakota’s taxpayers.”

Sheri was raised in Rugby, North Dakota and is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. Most recently, Sheri served as Chair of the Board for Capital Electric, a cooperative providing reliable electricity to Burleigh and southern Sheridan counties. Haugen-Hoffart served as the first female board chair in history for both Capital Electric Co-Op and Central Power Co-Op.

As one of three Public Service Commissioners, Sheri stated that she remains committed to ensuring that utility providers are regulated fairly while fighting to protect consumers and taxpayers.

Sheri lives in Bismarck with her husband Richard.
