On July 24th, 2023, at approximately 1:11 am, the ND Highway Patrol responded to a one
vehicle rollover crash on I-94 MM 313 in western Cass County.
A 2003 Peterbilt semi-truck, towing a 2023 Wilson grain hopper trailer, was eastbound on I-94
when the driver fell asleep. The vehicle combination entered the median, striking the median
cable barrier and rolled onto its side.
The driver, Nathan Messmer, 33 YOA, was uninjured in the crash. Approximately 1/8 mile of
cable median barrier was struck during the crash.
The Peterbilt was hauling a load of sunflowers, which spilled during the rollover. Clean-up
continues at the crash site.
Messmer was cited for Care Required.
The crash remains under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol.
