MINOT — The Minot International Airport will rehabilitate its runways this year with funding from Federal Aviation Administration grants.
FAA grants are funds to help with the safety and maintenance national airports. Minot's airport received $1.6 million this past year.
Engineer management for the project will be provided by Short Elliot Hendrickson, Inc., based in Minnesota.
Surface deterioration was found in multiple locations on the primary runway and crosswind runway. The specific areas affected do not interfere with safety of the main takeoff and landing zones.
Another runway will receive pavement maintenance first, that way it can be ready for use while the primary runway undergoes maintenance.
Biding will begin in March, and runway maintenance is scheduled to take place in July.
