BURLINGTON—The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Matthew Melbarzdis, 23, Minot has died from injuries he sustained in a crash on Christmas Day.
According to the NDHP, Melbarzdis was traveling on Highway 15 from Minot to Burlington when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice and compacted snow. His Ford F-250 entered the ditch and struck an approach. It overturned, pinning him.
The Ward County Sheriff’s Department along with Burlington PD, Burlington Fire, and Trinity ambulance responded to the crash. Melbarzdis was extracted from his vehicle. EMS began life saving measures and transported him to the Trinity Hospital.
His family notified NDHP Wednesday that Melbarzdis died from his injuries.
