MINOT — Residents of Minot might notice a lot of firefighters in town later this month.
The annual State Fire School, conducted by the North Dakota Firefighter’s Association, will be held at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds and the Clarion Hotel Feb. 25-27.
“I anticipate there will be between 800 and 900 firefighters in town that weekend,” Minot Fire Chief Kelli Kronschnabel said. “The school wasn’t held in 2021 because of COVID, but it’s been held in Minot for probably the past decade. We’re glad to have this event back in our community.”
The event includes a meeting of the fire chiefs in North Dakota and hosts a wide variety of events, including:
“There are classes focused on just about every aspect of firefighting,” Kronschnabel said. “Auto extrication, technical rescue, fire investigations…the skills firefighters need vary greatly, and the classes offered at this annual event reflect those skills.”
Registration begins on Feb. 24, with classes and training scheduled between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 25-27.
