Ward County Sheriff's Department release
The Ward County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a community partner or possibly several community partners to assist in an addition to our K9 Deputy program. The Ward County Sheriff’s Department first initiated our K9 program in August of 2019 with a similar request. Since that time, we have seen enormous success with our K9, Baxi, and all of the good he has done. We are estimating that Baxi is about halfway through his available time working as a Law Enforcement K9. We are looking to get another K9 purchased, trained and working before we need to consider any retirement for Baxi. This will ensure that the citizens of Ward County will not be without a K9 as we move forward.
We are excited at the opportunity to bring another K9 partner to the Ward County citizens and all of the communities we service. We are looking for community support in assisting us in funding this addition to our program. With a cost of approximately $35,000, we would love to work with as many community partners as it takes to get this added resource up and running in the near future. If any group or organization is willing to provide funding for the entire project, we would be extremely grateful. However, if we do not locate a partner willing to fund the entire project, we would look to involve several partners that are willing to help us provide this valuable service to the community. We are determined to work diligently and raise funds in various ways to complete this project. If you are willing to help fund any portion to support this cause, please give me a call.
